# Fines for properties you don't visit

At the end of the game your team is fined **1.5× the current rent** for every property you didn't visit.

"Current rent" means whatever that property is worth at the end of the day, so a property sitting in a full colour set — or with a hotel on it — costs you more:

| Pall Mall at the end of the game | Rent | Your fine |
| --- | --- | --- |
| On its own | £70 | £105 |
| As part of the full Purple set | £140 | £210 |
| With a hotel | £210 | £315 |

Those are the same rent figures as [How does rent work?](https://help.monopoly-run.co.uk/en/article/how-does-rent-work-4sjgo/) — a hotel triples the base rent rather than stacking on top of the colour-set double.

The fine applies to every team, whatever [Team Speed](https://help.monopoly-run.co.uk/en/article/team-speeds-park-run-joggers-or-runners-1so6bp8/) you chose.

### Why do we fine unvisited properties?

Without it, a team could pick up a few properties early, stop playing, and still top the leaderboard on rent alone — beating teams who were still out running at 5pm. The fine keeps everyone in the game to the end.

### Where does the fine money go?

Fines are paid **to the bank**, so that money leaves the game altogether. It doesn't go into the [Free Parking pot](https://help.monopoly-run.co.uk/en/article/what-is-free-parking-and-how-does-it-work-5zpz2s/) — that pot is fed only by Chance Card penalties, and a team wins it back.
