# How does rent work?

You earn **rent** automatically every time another team checks in at a property your team owns. You don't need to be at the property, or do anything at all.

How much you earn depends on what else you own:

| What your team owns | Rent per visit |
| --- | --- |
| Pall Mall on its own | £70 |
| Pall Mall as part of the full Purple set | £140 |
| Pall Mall with a hotel | £210 |

Owning the **full colour set doubles** the base rent. A **hotel triples the base rent** — it does not stack on top of the colour-set double. So Pall Mall with a hotel earns £210, not £420. (You'll always own the full set anyway, since [hotels can only be bought on a complete colour group](https://help.monopoly-run.co.uk/en/article/how-do-we-buy-hotels-1guag5e/).)
