What is Free Parking and how does it work?
How do Chance Cards and Free Parking work?
What happens when we receive a Chance Card?
Chance Cards are issued when your team checks in at certain locations. When activated, they will either:
- Add money to your team’s bank balance, or
- Deduct money from your bank balance
If money is deducted, it is added to a shared game “pot”.
What is the Free Parking pot?
The pot is made up of money collected from Chance Card penalties throughout your game. This creates a growing bounty that teams can compete to win.
How does Free Parking work?
There are three Free Parking locations, which are randomly scattered across London.
You will find out the exact Free Parking locations on the day of the Run. They change each year but will always be located within Zone 1.
During the day, your team will have one opportunity to visit a Free Parking location. Visiting Free Parking works like any other location — you must physically go there and complete a check-in.
However:
- Free Parking cannot be owned
- You do not receive the full pot automatically
Instead, when you check in, you will win a randomly generated percentage of the pot. This could be anywhere from 20% up to 80%.
When should we visit Free Parking?
Timing is strategic. If another team has just visited, the pot may be low. But if you leave it too late, you risk missing out entirely. Choosing the right moment can make a big difference to your final balance.
Can we visit Free Parking more than once?
By default, each team has one Free Parking visit during the game.
However, additional visits can be awarded through certain Chance Cards.
