Can we use the app before the day?

No — the app only comes to life on the day of the Run. It needs the game system running behind it, and that only happens on the morning.

Download it now anyway. It's the thing you'll use all day to check in, see your stats and take part in challenges, so you want it installed and up to date well before you're standing in a Start Zone — see downloading the app and what should we bring on the day?

Until the morning of the Run it simply won't let you log in. That's expected, not a fault.
